New Husqvarna TR650 Strada and Terra: Souped Up G650GS Motor for On/Offroad Antics

Husky Street

I suspected BMW would do good things with Husqvarna when they acquired the Swedish brand in 2007, and sure enough, their Nuda 900 and 900R proved lustworthy and original enough. Too bad Husky's first ever onroad bike the Nuda never became available in the U.S. market.

Enter 2012, and Husqvarna has finally announced their first on-road offering for the States: the TR650 Strada (seen above), which will be complemented by an offroad version, the TR650 Terra (seen below.)

Husky Dirt

The bikes were partially inspired by the Moab Concept, and feature split-backbone tubular steel frame built around an upgraded version of the 652cc G650GS powerplant, which now produces 58 horsepower. The engine runs on higher compression and boasts a forged piston and reduced reciprocating mass for lower vibrations and higher revs. The Strada will come with standard ABS, which will be optional for the Terra; both can be disabled.

Built in Italy, the on and off-road versions weigh 414 lbs and 406 lbs respectively, and will be available later this year, price TBD.
